Getting picked up at JFK is changing, particularly if you arrive at Terminal 5 or Terminal 7.
Due to the ongoing redevelopment of John F. Kennedy International Airport and congestion around the terminal roadways, ride-app and for-hire vehicle pickups at Terminals 5 and 7 have been relocated to the Howard Beach Ride App & Car Services Lot. Passengers using these services must first take the AirTrain from their terminal to Howard Beach before meeting their driver. The change has been in effect since May 2, 2025 and remains ongoing.
There is another option for JFK passengers.
GO Airlink is an authorized provider and official licensee of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. We continue to provide curbside airport transportation at JFK, allowing our passengers to meet their GO Airlink ride outside the terminal rather than traveling to a remote rideshare pickup lot.
What Changed With Uber and Lyft Pickups at JFK?
JFK’s current guidance states that ride-app pickup locations at Terminals 5 and 7 have temporarily moved to the Howard Beach AirTrain Station because of airport construction.
For arriving passengers using affected ride-app and for-hire services, that adds another step after the flight. After collecting your luggage, you’ll need to make your way to the AirTrain, ride to Howard Beach and then locate the designated pickup area for your vehicle.
The AirTrain ride to the relocated pickup area is free. JFK says AirTrain service between terminals runs every 5 to 15 minutes, although passengers should check airport monitors for service changes.
GO Airlink Still Offers JFK Curbside Pickup
As an official licensee of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, we are able to provide curbside airport pickup and drop off for passengers at every JFK terminal.
We provide several options depending on how you want to travel:
Passengers can also book their JFK transportation in advance, which is recommended when you already know your travel plans.
Just Landed at JFK Without a Reservation?
You can still GO.
Passengers arriving at JFK can request a GO Airlink pickup after they deplane, even without an advance reservation. Once your ride is requested, our team will dispatch a vehicle for curbside pickup.
Because of the extensive construction and changing traffic patterns around JFK, same-day passengers should allow up to 20 minutes for the vehicle to reach the terminal.
That wait happens while you remain at the terminal rather than requiring you to take the AirTrain to another pickup location first.
For travelers carrying luggage, families traveling with children, groups, visitors unfamiliar with JFK or anyone who simply wants to leave directly from the terminal, that can make a meaningful difference after a long flight.
Why Are JFK Pickup Locations Changing?
JFK is in the middle of a $19 billion redevelopment, and construction has affected roadways throughout the airport. The Port Authority continues to warn passengers about construction-related congestion and recommends allowing additional travel time.
These aren’t minor roadway changes. Traffic patterns, pickup areas and access routes have been adjusted as work progresses.
That makes it increasingly important to know how your transportation provider is permitted to operate at the airport before you land.
Authorized JFK Airport Transportation Matters
JFK advises passengers to use official pickup areas and authorized transportation providers. The airport maintains its own list of authorized shuttle and van operators, which includes GO Airlink.
GO Airlink has served New York City travelers since 2004 and is an official licensee of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. For passengers, that means there is an important alternative to taking the AirTrain to meet a ride app during the current construction period. Land. Collect your bags. Request your GO Airlink ride. Meet us curbside.
